On Saturday I attended my first martial arts tournament in about a year (been very busy and all). I broke out one of my favorite forms that I've been working on of late called Tit Jun Kun ("Escape from War Form"). It's the first time I've competed with it and I took 2nd place in the Intermediate division (lost by 1/10 of a point - Grrr!) - but it felt good and I did my best.
I also had my best fights ever - I defeated my first 3 opponents easily, then choked and lost the fight for 1st place - so I again took home 2nd place in fighting in the Intermediate division. It was however the best fighting I've ever done in a competition and I felt really good afterwards.
took down the videos again until I get permission to post them :-)

A little shot here, a little light there
Well, Wrævn went in for his 18 month check up today. He of course passed with flying colors. I was just amazed at how much smaller he is than Ærowyn who weighed almost 4 lbs more at this age. He is on the same course as before though so nothing to worry about. He is quite the busy body and I'm sure burns off a billion calories a day. He didn't like the light in his ears, eyes, and mouth, and even complained when they measured his length, but he really made some noise when they poked the needles in his leg. I decided to make him feel better we would go feed bread to the ducks. He tried to jump in to the water a couple of times, but luckily I was there to grab him before his wet adventure. We played on the playground for a while and then went for ice cream! Heck, I figured we all deserved it on such a boiling hot day. Both he and Ærowyn took naps on the drive home, and then we waited for dad to get home and had Family Home Evening. I must say I really love getting the Friend because it is full of so many great ideas to use for FHE and they are perfect for Ærowyn's age right now. When I cut them out (or print them out) I keep them in baggies to use at a later date or take them to church and have her play with them during Sacrament meeting. What an inspired magazine.
We are trying to decide what pre-k program to put Ærowyn in and it's just crazy how much things cost. If it weren't for my sanity I would probably just do it at home. I check out about 8 books from the library that are packed full of information, activities, and such, but I think it would be so much better for her to be in an environment with other kids and having to obey a different adult. I know it's not too happy for the pocket book, but I feel it will really help her grow in some areas she needs to this last year before she goes in to Kindergarten...Holy Crap she will be in Kindergarten next year!!!
Well, it's time for bed and I better go help the kidlets get ready. Catch up some more later.
